Ambigram Using Inkscape

Ambigram, I never do it before.

An ambigram, also sometimes known as an inversion, is a graphical figure that spells out a word not only in its form as presented, but also in another direction or orientation. The text can also consist of a few words, and the the text spelled out in the other direction or orientation is often the same, but can also be a different text.

from wikipedia

This is my experiment of making ambigram using inkscape
First thing I do is choosing the word, I need a word length from 5 to 8 letters. I choose simple, simply because this blog is azn simple vector and the word simple have 5 letters in it.
After that, using calligrapy tool, I play around with the letter s, flip it horizontal, vertical and rotate it to match the letter e. Of course its time consuming here.
then I go for the letters i and l,lastly the letters m and p.

Here it is screenshot of ambigram in Inkscape

and this is the picture of simple ambigram

Ambigram for the word simple

This is my first experiment on ambigram using inkscape.

Inkscape : Clipping Objects

Inkscape takes the top path of the selected object and clips all the paths below it. I always fill objects with different color before clipping because it is easier for me to see which object is at the top order. Order of objects give different shape results when clipped except for union, intersection and exclusion. Two diagrams below show clip results according to the order of the objects.

Illustrate rubber stamp

rubber stamp
When I was a kid ,sometimes I carved my rubber eraser to make simple pattern.Using watercolor as ink, I got my own selfmade rubber stamp.

Brief Information On Subject:

Rubber stamping, a craft in which some type of ink made of dye or pigment is applied to an image or pattern that has been carved, molded, laser engraved or vulcanized, onto a sheet of rubber. The rubber is often mounted onto a more stable object such as a wood or an acrylic block to produce a more solid instrument.

Use by pressing the coated rubber stamp onto any type of medium. The medium is generally some type of fabric or paper. Other media used are: wood, metal, glass, plastic, rock. High volume batik uses liquid wax instead of ink on a metal stamp.

Commercially available rubber stamps categories:

  • stamps for use in the office,
  • stamps used for decorating objects
  • those used as children's toys.

Simple howto:

Illustrate rubber stamp using Inkscape require color similar with the ink used.
Draw shape such as circle, rectangle etc.
apply gradient and blur to the shape.
