1. Import photo you want to color. Using draw bezier tool, trace the part your want to color and then edit the path nodes.

2. Fill it with the color you want.

3. Edit fill color and stroke.
3a. Choose no paint for "Stroke".
3b. Reduce "Fill" opacity to about 30 percent.

4.Select the both object you just draw and the orignal photo and export it, finish.

Drawing Star

If you want to draw "Jalur Gemilang", you can draw it really quick using Inkscape. Jalur Gemilang is Malaysia flag, comprises a field of 14 alternating red and white stripes along the fly and a blue canton bearing a crescent and a 14-point star.
Creating star with Inkscape is easy and simple, maybe this is only useful to beginners and kids. This is how to draw 14 corners (points) star.

Chrome Effect Tutorial

September last year I've post an entry with a title "coins using inkscape". I also put a link to a

Try combine the method shows in this tutorial and the tutorial on how to draw a pile of coins. With

minor adaptation, a shiny pile of coins should be possible.

Grouping Object in Different layers

Grouping object in different layers in Inkscape will bring them up to the layer of the highest item in the selection. In figure 1, I draw 3 circles, the red one in first layer, green second layer and blue in third layer. When I group red circle ( layer 1) and blue circle (layer 3 ) together, the result is in the top layer, see that the green layer is below the red layer in figure 2.

Inkscape : Clipping Objects

Inkscape takes the top path of the selected object and clips all the paths below it. I always fill objects with different color before clipping because it is easier for me to see which object is at the top order. Order of objects give different shape results when clipped except for union, intersection and exclusion. Two diagrams below show clip results according to the order of the objects.

Illustrate rubber stamp

rubber stamp
When I was a kid ,sometimes I carved my rubber eraser to make simple pattern.Using watercolor as ink, I got my own selfmade rubber stamp.

Brief Information On Subject:

Rubber stamping, a craft in which some type of ink made of dye or pigment is applied to an image or pattern that has been carved, molded, laser engraved or vulcanized, onto a sheet of rubber. The rubber is often mounted onto a more stable object such as a wood or an acrylic block to produce a more solid instrument.

Use by pressing the coated rubber stamp onto any type of medium. The medium is generally some type of fabric or paper. Other media used are: wood, metal, glass, plastic, rock. High volume batik uses liquid wax instead of ink on a metal stamp.

Commercially available rubber stamps categories:

  • stamps for use in the office,
  • stamps used for decorating objects
  • those used as children's toys.

Simple howto:

Illustrate rubber stamp using Inkscape require color similar with the ink used.
Draw shape such as circle, rectangle etc.
apply gradient and blur to the shape.
