Wildlife Illustration: Turtle

vector turtle penyu

This is vector illustration of Leatherback Sea Turtle.

Leatherback Sea Turtle is called Penyu Belimbing in Malay, maybe because it's carapace (upper shell) looks like a "belimbing" (a kind of sour fruit). This reptile said to be one of the oldest in it's group. Scientific name is Dermochelys coriacea.

Azn Wild

Starting with Malayan Tapir, I am going to make illustrations of wildlife and post it here. My daughter loves wildlife and sometimes she asked me about it, such as where they live, what they eat and many many more. I have to make extra readings and refer to some of my friends at Wildlife Department. Me, myself also interested at wildlife, they are wonderful creatures. Having same interest with our own family is wonderful thing in life. List of wildlife at my mind now are elephant, leopard, tiger, deer and orang utan. You are welcome to add your favourites in my list.
If you have photos of animals and you don't mind if I use it as a basic for illustration, do leave a message for me.

Today I post an Illustration showing steps on how I draw a swordfish. I'm not an expert here, but I hope the illustration can give a bit hint for beginner in vector graphic, either using commercial or free vector editor. I'm doing this using Inkscape.

Can you draw a Koala ?

A friend came to me and ask, "can you draw a koala? climbing tree.. and make it simple so it's easier for me to follow.

Using inkscape, I drew a simple Koala cartoon, climbing a tree and show it to him.

He looked at it and said, "Can you draw simple than this ?
Smiling to my self, I started to draw again and "This is the simplest I can think of right now."

Looking at it, both of us laughed. Yes, cartoon can make people happy
